Family construction zone blocks kit Check Availability

Must be picked up at and returned to North Spokane Library

These kits are designed for childcare centers and preschools to use for a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activity. It’s perfect for a Family night at your center or school. The kit contains 5 sets of blocks (some sets are divided into more than one bin) and 5 sandwich board signs. The signs give suggestions for parents or caregivers to ask open-ended questions and introduce basic vocabulary words for math and science. These signs guide you through block play. Keep in mind you’ll need a van or a large vehicle to pick up the set. Below is a list of the kinds of blocks included:

Unit Blocks:  These are large wooden blocks like you typically see in a preschool or kindergarten classroom. Included in this set are rainbow blocks which are wooden blocks with a clear

Giant Foam Blocks: These are similar to the foam blocks but on a bigger scale and inspire creative play.

Architectural Blocks:  These smaller hand size blocks introduce architectural shapes such as columns, turrets, arches, and domes.  Great at inspiring the imagination to build great structures and work on spatial sense and motor skills.

Unit cubes: Unit cubes are small 1 inch wooden cubes that are great for sorting, counting, patterning, and stacking. Included in this set are small unit blocks which are great for little hands.

Educators that are interested in checking out the Family Construction Zone and fall outside of our service area (and do not have a Spokane County Library card) may do so here https://www.scld.org/connect/ask-a-librarian/ and indicate that you are interested in borrowing the Family Construction Zone.  Please note it may take up to a week to get back to you.
